Easy Rasam


 











Ingredients

Toor Dal                                  ½ cup
Green chillies                            4
Tomato                                    1
Turmeric Powder                     1 tsp
Tamarind                                 1 lime size
Jaggery                                    a little (optional)
Red Chillies                             2
Mustard                                   ½ tsp
Asafoeteda                              ¼ tsp
Cumin Seeds                           ½ tsp
Fenugreek                               ¼ tsp
Curry Leaves                           a a few leaves
Coriander Leaves                    1 tbsp finely hopped
Garlic                                      4 pieces (optional)
Salt                                          to taste
Oil                                           1 tbsp 

Method

Cook dal with turmeric and green chilies and cut tomato. 
Extract tamarind juice after soaking it in water. 
Add this to the dal with salt and sufficient water. 
Boil for some time. 

Heat oil in a pan, add red chilies broken into two, add mustard and asafoeteda. 
When mustard splutters, add the mashed garlic and fry till golden brown. 
Now add cumin seeds, funugreek and curry leaves. 
Add the seasoning to the rasam. 
Granish with coriander leaves. 
Add little jaggery if required while boiling.
